Bush and beach in Mkwaja, Tanzania

this village is about 3kms away from Saadani National Park which fascinates me because one of its borders is the Indian ocean. So this place is the perfect combination of bush and beach.

Easy Sunday – the Ngong Hills circuit

Destination: Muturis, a choma joint with a “food court” set up – different vendors offering mbuzi, pork and fish. Spacious, with a kids' play area. Good ambiance. Music.

First impressions of Zambia

Zambian immigration was polite but careful - one look at my physiognomy was enough to send me for extra checks! I was allowed in, though!

From Narok to Njoro and back

proceed to Narok via the Mau-Narok route. This is one of the most direct routes I've ever been on. Straight and straight ahead no branching or anything. The tarmac is fresh most if it. Very wide, minimal bumps

The new Ngong Suswa road

The scenes out there were so awesome, from the escarpment like views to the sunset rays under the clouds, I'd call that heaven on earth, we got to our stop somewhere along the road in the middle of nowhere, made stories

A random trip to Mwatate

I set off cruising at 90 to 95 km per hour. I was happy being greeted by some guys on personal cars, others on trucks and matatus. 3 hours later I was in Voi, had a failed meet and greet with someone here, 25 minutes later I was in Mwatate.

Hero X-Pulse reflections at 1,000kms

Off road, stood on the footpegs, going up the Mai Mahiu escarpment. Passing all those big cars that were speeding past me earlier, I had an epiphany: this is the tale of the tortoise and the hare...

End year solo ride

I chose to travel on this last day of 2021 to meet my other family members at the upcountry. I was to travel with my nuclear family, but I surprised them when I told her, "Mtaenda na gari, halafu mimi naenda na pikipiki". They never believed my words.

A Saturday in Hell’s Kitchen

For SAKAYO and i, it would be the first fully tarmac stretch of road, 4hr.20min to Marafa from Diani, 190kms and back.... Making it 380kms covered in one day and 8hrs of riding. I started early(6.30am) to Nyali to meet up with Ralf. Mother nature decided to start making things exciting by introducing a slight shower and slippery tarmac. The ride to likoni from Diani was therefore very sketchy, what with trailers from Tanzania filling the road with spray and matatus in a hurry to overtake. The ferry crossing was uneventful and the ride to Nyali rather pleasant. The weather had dried out as i crossed thr ferry and it was going to be a beautiful sunny day. Om arriving at Ralf's place, we talked a while and had coffee, before leaving for Kilifi.
