3 days and a nearly 900km round trip to sample the majestic landscapes of Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The Chemususu Forest is expansive and beautiful. Further along the route, a scenic view point.
Awesome landscapes. After Kapsowar you encounter clear streams that cross the road. Tarmac ends at Lukuget, and technical sections get the pulse racing. Mango orchards abound. The 11kms from Sambalat to Wewo is the steepest, twistiest tarmac road i've encountered: 4km in a straight line for a 1.28km vertical climb. A feast of hairpin corners. Extreme. You need reliable brakes and advanced riding skills or you're in trouble. Multiple landslides have rendered it impassable except to bikes.
St. Kizito Catholic Church at Wewo is an iconic, spectacularly located landmark, perched at the edge of a steep hill with a commanding view of the Kerio Valley.
That descent from Wewo to Sambalat with EPiiiiiiiC views. Enjoying tasty mango juice produced at the Tot Mango Processing Factory. Riding 57km of dirt road from Karena in a rugged wilderness landscape, with a rocky, technical section near Barpello.
Dirt road night ride, enjoying the freedom feeling in the warm, inky black night pierced only slightly by our lights.
Smooth tarmac from near Chemolingot (ongoing construction), free of traffic.
Pleasant night stop at Soi Safari Lodge at Kampi Ya Samaki.
Sunrise at Lake Baringo with birds and crocodiles. The metal marvel of Marigat bridge. Scenic return ride with clear skies up to Naivasha, where a rainshower blessed us for a few kilometers.
A ride of limitless landscapes which far exceeded our expectations. Loved it!
And GiGi performed flawlessly throughout. This is what ADVenture bikes are all about: enabling you to take on any trip with confidence.
