But as many discover later it's not a walk in the park. Buying these big bikes is one costly affair. However no worries you save and finally buy. The maintenance is where it hits you that you just got yourself into a very costly love affair.
I have been lucky to have a 125cc, 400cc and lately the 500cc motor.
Let me break it down for you. Buying price is one off let's not even talk about it. Let's see the running costs my Chinese two wheeler.
My TRK "drinks" 3.2L of fully sythentic juice. Manufacturer recommended oil is 10w50. Motul sells this through accredited dealers like Toyotsu and lubricant city. A 4L can goes for 6K. Translating to 1.5K a litre. Recommended drain interval is 6K Kms.
NGK CRE8 2 pieces goes for 2K. Again recommended change interval is 6K kms.
Negligible. Anything between 300 and 500bob depending on the brand and where you buy.
Rear and front will take you back another 5K.
This is another ulcer inducing cost. Most of the big bikes adorn 160 and 110 on the front. 30K on the average.
While small cc motors will give you very decent returns. This big bikes will give you between 15km to a litre to 30km/L. Ofcoz depending on your riding style. That's why one time here there was a discussion how big bore bikers rarely do randoms.
Other parts such as clutch plates, engine casings, engines, catalytic converters, fuel tanks and a lot more.....you can only import and at premium prices.
So as you work hard to get your big motor just know the purchase is the easier part, the maintenance by far and large is expensive affair. And I have not talked about the Japanese and European bikes.
What am advising you is that these bikes are expensive to run. But overall the joy, the thrill and the adventures are way more rewarding than anything else.
Good luck.
