Leaving home for a 10 day tour of Kidepo Valley
Spent the morning touring Siaya town as Specimen Espira Munywele had his meetings, then proceeded to Busia where we crossed into Uganda, from there it was a fast ride through the rain and sunshine to Soroti. Tomorrow we proceed to Karamoja
Spent the night in Moroto and started our ride to Kidepo Valley in the morning, unfortunately 40 km into our ride I noticed that my front shock was leaking so we turned back. We hope to have it repaired tomorrow and continue with our ride.
Sorted out the bike managed to get a fork seal for a Mitsubishi Fuso lorry differential, it fitted so we're resuming our trip to Kidepo Valley National Park.
Spent the Afternoon doing a game drive in Kidepo National Park, lots of wildlife
Katurum lodge in Kidepo Valley National Park was built in the 1970's by Idi Amin, it even had a bunker for him. After he was overthrown the lodge was abandoned and vandalised. A Ugandan entrepreneur Mr Kodet has now leased it from the UWA and is rehabilitating it to its former glory. It's not yet opened as construction is ongoing but we are the first guests to stay here courtesy of the Kodet family.
Left Kidepo Valley and rode 250km offroad to Lira. This ride has reinforced my belief that the BMW f800 GS Adventure is the best adventure bike on the market, its combination of 600km range, comfort and offroad performance is unbeatable
