Hello AMD, I have owned the Zontes 250V Cafe Racer for 1 yr 4 months. Here are my personal opinions for the ownership duration. I have realized that quite a number of people have honestly asked for the ownership review and well AMD being AMD, alot of misleading information has been doing rounds.
The reason I decided to do this review as an OWNER of the bike is to simply share my honest review on this particular model to anybody who hasn't had a chance to ride one and is genuinely interested in purchasing the same model.
Many who have owned this bike can attest to this. It will get you anywhere without any problems whatsoever. It's large 20L tank as well as it's economical fuel consumption is a major, major go. I have personally covered over 500kms in a day and the only problem I encountered was a sore bum plus long mileage fatigue which can be experienced in MOST bikes that are sold in Kenya.
I'm not an aggressive rider. Though the bike can achieve speeds up to 126kph-130kph comfortably, I hardly exceed 90kph. But then this is just me. If you're looking for this bike to achieve speeds over 130, then this might not be the bike for you. It's low end and midrange torque is much better than the high end torque. This means that's it is very easy to get to 100kph from 0 kph.
There are people who have done upto 30k kms on the ODO and counting without any engine problems.
Even though the bike can cover lots of kms in a day, tanye hapa itauma. Of course this can be resolved by proper cushioning and upholstery.
If your pillion is weighty, then you'll have to make some adjustments to the seat and maybe add chuma kama ya boda to accommodate all the bodily tissues.
Its simply not bright enough and hence not safe. There are cheap after market LEDs that can be installed and the luminous intensity will increase drastically.
I would recommend this bike to anyone who wants an errand bike that will be of service to him/her. The few cons that are highlighted above are very easy fixes. I plan to ride this for a while and maybe if things go well upgrade to the all new Zontes 350 GK scrambler when it lands coz wueh, That is a beast.
